More than 70% of the world consumption of energy iscovered by fossile energies like coal, oil andnatural gas. The use of these energies causesemission of CO2 and other greenhouse gases, which isa big problem nowadays. Renewable energies areconsidered as longer-termed alternatives and beneaththem, biomass is the most important. Therefore aphysical characterisation of wood fuels is importantwhen choosing fuels for various boiler systems andtechnologies. The quality of the wood chips dependson the size distribution, moisture content and onimpurities. This book comprises of investigations andevaluation of methods of moisture contentdetermination of wood chips for energy purposes. Inview of the requirements accuracy, time,representation and possibility of field tests themethods were investigated and compared to each other.Suggestions for improvement in usage and constructionfor methods with the overall mark "good" can be made.
