Why is it considered more European to vote in the affirmative of the Euro than it is to vote against it? Why is not possible to be a populist and a "Good European" at the same time? What makes an illegal immigrant different from a tourist? What makes Europe different from other kinds of imagined communities such as 'the nation'? This book deals with questions that concern what it means to be, act and think as Europeans in Europe. In his attempts to bringing Europe down to earth, the author highlights contradictions that are inherent in our perceptions of what makes Europe "Europe".

Hellström Anders Anders Hellström is senior lecturer at the department of Global Political Studies and Post-Doc researcher at the research institute MIM, Malmö University, Sweden. He has published articles/chapters on the EU, identity politics, media analysis, migration, nationalism and populism. bringing europe down to earth is his doctoral thesis.
