This text describes the conception, development and future prospects of a vascular therapeutic intervention that involves the blending of intravascular stent and prosthetic graft technologies to form a new arterial bypass graft system that can be placed within the lumen of arteries. The grafts created by this technique can be used to repair a range of pathological lesions, including aneurysms, long segment arterial occlusions and traumatic arterial injuries.
