Prof. Dr. Hans-Jürgen Quadbeck-Seeger studierte Chemie, Physik und Anthropologie in München und wechselte nach seiner Promotion direkt in die Forschungsabteilung der BASF AG. Während seiner gesamten Berufslaufbahn war er sowohl in der Welt der Wissenschaft als auch in der Welt der Wirtschaft zu Hause: Er war Forschungsvorstand der BASF, Präsident der Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker, Mitglied des Senats der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft sowie der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft und seit 1985 Honorarprofessor an der Universität Heidelberg. Für sein unermüdliches Engagement wurde ihm 1998 das Bundesverdienstkreuz verliehen. Er ist begeisterter und bekennender "Bücherwurm" und widmet sich seit seiner Pensionierung leidenschaftlich der Literatur. Er ist mittlerweile Autor mehrerer Bücher, in die er seine über Jahre gesammelten Erfahrungen in witziger und nachdenklicher Art und Weise einfließen lässt.
