Full Description
The grieving of people with mental disabilities is about the losses caused by illness-related limitations as well as goodbyes through dying and death. The author Christoph Bevier, who works as a chaplain in a psychiatric clinic, gives an insight into the history of dealing with mentally ill people, a brief description of the most important disorders and a definition of grief. He explains which disorders can make grief more difficult and what helpful support can look like. He places particular emphasis on spirituality and art. The main concern of the book is to take caregivers' fears of mental disorders, to prevent stigmatization and to perceive and shape grief as a normal, important and helpful process, even for people with mental disorders.
