Francesco Landini gilt als zentrale Gestalt für die Musik des Trecento. Seine 154 tradierten Kompositionen stellen in ihrer Anzahl und in der Breite ihrer Überlieferung mit insgesamt 20 musikali Landini is a central figure in the music of the 14th century. His 154 surviving compositions form a unique corpus in terms of their number and the breadth of the manuscript tradition - a total of 20 sources from the 14th and early 15th centuries and as many as eight manuscripts for a single piece. This is the first systematic study of this corpus, taking into account all known manuscripts, fragments and sources and examining them using the methods of palaeography, codicology and textual criticism combined with questions from the disciplines of intellectual and social history. A structural model for the transmission of the works which looks at sections of the repertoire out of their familiar context, new relationships can be identified and established opinions about the context of transmission or the compilation of manuscripts can be corrected.
