(Text)
This volume investigates how the diachronic study of the Romance languages can be undertaken with the help of comparative historical linguistics and Proto-Romance. It comprises a methodological introduction (Chapter 1) and two further chapters, each dealing with a specific syntactic problem described and explained via the method set out previously. The questions broached are the position of subject and verb in subordinate clauses, and the position of two combined toneless object pronouns.
