The book is a philosophical examination of the concept of information - written as a series of letters to the grandson of the author, Ion Irimie. The Romanian philosophy professor, who is over 80 years old, not only analyzes the technical and mathematical definition of the term, but also presents information as a fundamental category of thought and reality. The starting point is the realization, that information is a simple yet highly complex phenomenon - in technology, biology, communication, and human consciousness. The presentation links historical developments with a systematic analysis of central questions: What is information? How does it relate to matter, energy, time, consciousness, and truth? The work critically explores existing theories and develops its own interdisciplinary reassessment.
Das Buch ist eine philosophische Auseinandersetzung mit dem Begriff Information - als Briefserie verfasst an den Enkelsohn des Autors Ion Irimie. Der über achtzigjährige rumänische Philosophieprofessor analysiert dabei nicht nur die technische und mathematische Definition des Begriffs, sondern stellt Information als fundamentale Kategorie des Denkens und der Wirklichkeit vor. Ausgangspunkt ist die Erkenntnis, dass Information ein einfaches und zugleich hochkomplexes Phänomen ist - in der Technik, in der Biologie, in der Kommunikation und im menschlichen Bewusstsein. Die Darstellung verknüpft historische Entwicklungen mit einer systematischen Analyse zentraler Fragen: Was ist Information? Wie verhält sie sich zu Materie, Energie, Zeit, Bewusstsein, Wahrheit? Das Werk lotet kritisch die bestehenden Theorien aus und entwickelt eine eigene, disziplinübergreifende Neubewertung.
Ion Irimie war Professor an der Babe -Bolyai-Universität Cluj-Napoca (deutsch Klausenburg) und lehrte an der Fakultät für Philosophiegeschichte Dialektischen Materialismus sowie Theorie und Einführung in die Kybernetik. Er wurde am 8. Juni 1931 im Dorf Buia, im Kreis Sibiu (Siebenbürgen) geboren und lebt seit 1990 in Deutschland.
