Dr. phil. Bence Bauer (LL.M.), a legal scholar and historian, studied in Passau, Bonn, Budapest, and Chemnitz. Following a ten-year career at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, he has served as Director of the German-Hungarian Institute for European Cooperation since 2020. In addition to authoring the books »Hungary Is Different« and »Gateways to the Pan-European Picnic and the Border Opening in 1989«, he co-edits the series »Contributions to German-Hungarian Understanding« with Prof. Dr. Frank-Lothar Kroll. His research focuses on German-Hungarian relations, comparative legal and constitutional systems, and the era of political transition in Germany and Hungary.
