Die Arbeit untersucht die 2016 von der EU vorgeschlagenen Sekundärrechtsakte zur Reform des Gemeinsames Europaisches Asylsystems (GEAS). Unter Berücksichtigung der Entstehungsgeschichte des GEAS und der primär- und völkerrechtlichen Vorgaben für die Weiterentwicklung desselben untersucht sie die von Kommission und Parlament vorgeschlagenen Sekundärrechtsakte. Abschließend gibt der Autor einen Überblick über die im Mai 2024 verabschiedeten EU-Rechtsakte, die ab Mitte 2026 das neue GEAS prägen. »The Reform of EU Asylum and Refugee Law. The European Union's Proposals from 2016 on the Further Development of the Common European Asylum System«: This work examines the secondary legislation proposed by the EU in 2016 to reform the Common European Asylum System (CEAS). It takes into account the history of the CEAS as well as the primary EU law and international legal requirements for its further development. The study focuses on the secondary legislation proposed by the European Commission and Parliament. Finally, the author provides an overview of the EU legal acts adopted in May 2024 that will shape the new CEAS from mid-2026 onward. The author studied law and economics in Frankfurt am Main, Wiesbaden, and Milan. After completing his studies, he initially worked as a research assistant at the Chair of public law, administrative law, European law, law of new technologies and history of law held by Professor Dr.iur. Dr.phil. Martin Will, M.A., LL.M. (Cambridge) at EBS University. Following the 2nd state examination in law he worked for around two and a half years as a lawyer at the law firm Clifford Chance in the areas of public procurement law, real estate law, and public commercial law. He currently works as a judge at the Administrative Court of Frankfurt am Main.
