Der Religionspädagoge Gerhard Bohne (1895-1977) verfasste in den 1950er Jahren eine umfangreiche Forschungsarbeit unter dem Titel »Die Frömmigkeit des Kindes«, die jedoch unveröffentlicht blieb. In dieser Studie beabsichtigte Bohne, seine in den 1920er Jahren gewonnenen Einsichten in die religiöse Entwicklung von Kindern und Jugendlichen fortzuschreiben und mit den neueren Entwicklungen der erziehungswissenschaftlichen und entwicklungspsychologischen Theoriebildung in Einklang zu bringen.Im vorliegenden Band wird diese Studie erstmals in Form einer historisch-kritischen Edition veröffentlicht, ergänzt um weitere einschlägige Texte Bohnes zum Thema Kindheitsreligiosität. Damit steht eine bislang unbeachtete Quelle für die historische Bildungsforschung zur Verfügung, die die weitere systematische Erschließung von Bohnes religionspädagogischer Theorie ermöglicht und Einblicke in die Entwicklung der Religionspädagogik der 1950er Jahre bietet.[Gerhard Bohne: The Piety of the Child.
