Otto Haendler (1890-1981) hat seit Beginn der 1940er Jahre einen wachsenden Einfluss auf die Praktische Theologie und die Erörterung der Grundfragen kirchlicher Praxis gewonnen. Seine interdisziplinär argumentierenden, vor allem im Dialog mit der Tiefenpsychologie verfassten Texte haben zu weitreichenden Veränderungen im Selbstverständnis und im Berufsbild von Pfarrerinnen und Pfarrern beigetragen. Ein 2014 gestartetes Editionsprojekt (Otto Haendler. Vorträge und Schriften zur Praktischen Theologie) war Anlass, sich im Rahmen zweier Symposien mit Haendlers Impulsen genauer auseinanderzusetzen und eine entsprechende Spurensicherung vorzunehmen, die bei seiner Habilitationsschrift (1930) ansetzt und bis in die Gegenwart reicht.[The Practical Theology of Otto Haendler. Jung, have contributed to far-reaching changes regarding the self-image and the occupational profile of pastors. At the height of dialectical theology, Haendler raised the question of the significance of person and subject for the life of faith of the church. An editorial project starting in 2014 provided the opportunity to address in the context of a symposion the impact of his work and to ensure its achievements.
