Description
(Text)
This book mainly emphases on optimizing the wastewater treatment plant, in order to reduce the pollutants from the wastewater produced by the textile factory called Bahir Dar Textile S.C. The factory generates 1200m3 of wastewater per day. The existing treatment plant was found to be efficient in terms of removing BOD5, Nitrogen and Ammonia. However, Total Solids and COD concentration were beyond recommended limits. An optimization of the system was expected to improve the treatment performance. A computer software program, named GPS-X, was used for that. Various options are considered upgrading methods via applying the software; they conducted to a significant removal of the pollutants. This analysis helps to have a clear understanding of how we are responsible for preventing the unnecessary pollution and for protecting life in general.
