Die Darstellungen des Menschen in der Bibel sind vielschichtig und manchmal überraschend tiefgründig. Bibelwissenschaftler versuchen heute, solche Texte aus verschiedenen Perspektiven und mit unterschiedlichen Methoden zu verstehen und zu interpretieren, oft abhängig von ihrem konfessionellen, regionalen und kulturellen Hintergrund. Der Band enthält Beiträge, die auf einer Konferenz "westlicher" (protestantischer und römisch-katholischer) und östlich-orthodoxer Exegeten in Rumänien gehalten wurden.
