Dieses Unterrichtsmodell bezieht sich auf das Drehbuch An Education von Nick Hornby, Riverhead Books, New York 2009. Ein Teil des Modells bezieht sich auf die DVD An Education, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment 2009.
England in den 1960ern: Die 16-jährige Jenny träumt von einem Studienplatz an der University of Oxford und arbeitet hart daran, dieses Ziel zu erreichen. Französische Musik, das Cello und die Lateinvokabeln prägen ihre Nachmittage. Doch wie so oft im Leben kommt etwas dazwischen und der charmante David scheint ihre Träume durcheinanderzubringen. Den Platz am Schreibtisch tauscht sie zunächst allzu gern gegen den Platz an Davids Seite - ob in einem schicken Restaurant oder in einer Jazzbar.
Das von Nick Hornby verfasste Drehbuch dient der Heranführung an die Arbeit mit einem Drama. Im Drehbuch wie auch in dem dazugehörigen Film von Lone Scherfing (2009) werden alltägliche Probleme eines Teenagers in den 60ern gezeigt, die heutigen Schülerinnen undSchülern aber ebenso bekannt sein werden. Das analytische und kreative Arbeiten mit screenplay und Film gibt den Schülern die Möglichkeit, sich mit dem Prozess des Erwachsenwerdens auseinanderzusetzen.
Hornbys Drehbuch ist geeignet als Schullektüre für die Jahrgangsstufen 9 - 11. Dieses Unterrichtsmodell liefert einen praxisorientierten Leitfaden zur Behandlung im Unterricht.
