Description
The aim of measuring is to gain or improve knowledge about objects or processes. However, measurement results are inherently uncertain. The 'Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement' (GUM), published by the CPIM as the highest international authority in metrology, provides a standardised procedure for determining measurement uncertainty in measurements.
This book focuses on the structured, basic procedure that a practitioner should master for measuring and analysing the corresponding measurement results. Mathematics is only presented to the extent that it is really needed as a 'tool of the trade'. The second part of the book contains a large number of examples that almost every student is confronted with in a physics, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering practical course. The book is therefore highly recommended for students of engineering and natural sciences.
