Das narratologisch erfassbare Phänomen der Metanarration - eine Thematisierung/Reflexion des Erzählens innerhalb eines narrativen Textes - ist seit der Antike ein weit verbreitetes, mittlerweile geradezu populäres, inter- und transmediales Erzählverfahren. Außerhalb des Erzähltextes ist Metanarration dennoch bislang wenig erforscht. Diese Studie (re-)organisiert Metanarration auf theoretisch-konzeptueller Ebene und legt die erste umfassende medienübergreifende Beschreibung vor. Sie präsentiert narratologische Beschreibungsparameter, die sich nicht nur auf primär sprachliche, sondern auch auf plurimediale Texte anwenden lassen und beschreibt das Phänomen in Bezug auf die intensionale Verbindung mit anderen Arten von Metaisierungen (Metafiktion, Metalepse etc.). Anhand variantenreicher Text-Beispiele aus den Medien Erzähltext, Drama, Film und Comic, die in exemplarischen Analysen angelegt sind, zeigt die Studie darüber hinaus, über welche Extension Metanarration verfügt - und welche Relevanz das Erzählverfahren in der heutigen Mediengesellschaft einnimmt.

The Narratologia series publishes state-of-the-art monographs and collective volumes devoted to modern narrative theory and its historical reconstruction in all the philological disciplines. It is the first narratological forum of its kind in Germany. In addition to literary texts, the series focuses on narration in everyday contexts, in pictorial media, in film and in the new media as well as on narration in historiography, ethnology, medicine, and the law.
The series publishes in German and English. All volumes are peer reviewed by two anonymous assessors.
