Der Textband enthält die letzten beiden Dramen Lohensteins: Ibrahim Sultan (Neuausgabe 1679) und Sophonisbe (1680). Im Ibrahim Sultanwird ein Stoff aus der türkischen Geschichte des 17. Jahrhunderts behandelt. Thema der Sophonisbe ist eine Episode aus dem II. Punischen Krieg. Die Anmerkungen Lohensteins zu beiden Dramen sind durch bibliographische Nachweise und Übersetzungen sämtlicher fremdsprachiger Zitate vollständig erschlossen. Eine Besonderheit dieses Bandes ist die Erstausgabe der handschriftlich überlieferten Textstücke zum Ibrahim Sultan. Die Anlage des Kommentars entspricht der der Bände 1 und 2.
