Description
The Bibliotheca Teubneriana, established in 1849, has evolved into the world's most venerable and extensive series of editions of Greek and Latin literature, ranging from classical to Neo-Latin texts. Some 4-5 new editions are published every year.
With this work, Carlo Lucarini presents a new critical edition of the geographers of antiquity. The fragments of the geographers (e.g. Hecataeus, Eratosthenes, Artemidorus) are reorganised and re-edited. For the minor geographers who have a direct tradition (such as Ps.-Scylax or Iulius Honorius), a new study of the manuscripts and editions has been undertaken. The material is divided into two volumes: The first volume presented here contains the geographers who wrote up to the Battle of Actium, the second the geographers of the Roman Empire.Carlo M. Lucarini, University of Palermo, Italy.
