Hermias von Alexandria, ein Schüler der athenischen Akademie, verfasste im 5. Jh. n. Chr. einen Kommentar zu Platons Dialog Phaidros. Der Kommentar ist stark bestrebt, metaphysische Zusammenhänge zu erläutern, und gibt somit auch Auskunft über Ideen und Theorien der neuplatonischen Lehre. Die bisher einzige kritische Ausgabe (P. Couvreur, 1901) wird durch die hier vorgelegte Edition ersetzt. Sie wird durch reichhaltige Indices erschlossen.

In the 5th century AD Hermias of Alexandria, a pupil of the Athenian Academy, wrote a commentary on Plato's dialogue Phaidros. The commentary concentrates on the explanation of metaphysical contexts, and so illuminates the ideas and theories of the Neoplatonist school. This volume replaces the only previous critical edition (P. Couvreur, 1901), and includes comprehensive indices.
