Das fünfbändige Schiller-Wörterbuch ist ein neuartiges Referenzwerk, das die Sprache Friedrich Schillers in den Mittelpunkt rückt und das erstmals in der Fachgeschichte den gesamten Wortschatz des Dichters lexikographisch abbildet und sprachwissenschaftlich erschließt. Mithilfe elektronischer Textkorpora wurde für dieses linguistische Autoren-Wörterbuch unter der Leitung von Rosemarie Lühr und Susanne Zeilfelder an der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena der Wortbestand aller Werke des Dichters lemmatisiert. Das Wörterbuch bietet zu ca. 32.000 Wörtern umfassende Informationen:
zur Wortform und Schreibung zu den Bedeutungen im Werkkontext (jeweils mit englischer Paraphrase der Bedeutungsansätze) mit ausgewählten, repräsentativen Belegen aus den Werken zu jedem Bedeutungsansatz mit Hinweisen auf Sonderwortschatz und Neologismen zu Paralleleinträgen in anderen deutschen Wörterbüchern (u. a. Grimm, Adelung)
Mit dem Schiller-Wörterbuch liegt damit ein einzigartiges Nachschlagewerk vor, das den gesamten Wortschatz des Dichters erstmals semantisch, morphologisch und syntaktisch beschreibt und lexikographisch zugänglich macht. Das Werk ist ein unverzichtbares Arbeitsinstrument für Sprachhistoriker, Linguisten, Literaturwissenschaftler und Kulturhistoriker, die sich mit der deutschen Sprach- und Geistesgeschichte des 18. Jahrhunderts, besonders auch der Weimarer Klassik, befassen. The five-volume Schiller Dictionary presents for the first time a lexicographical inventory of the poet's complete vocabulary and provides linguistic access to it. Using electronic text corpora, a team at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena has lemmatized the complete vocabulary in all of Schiller's works for this dictionary. The dictionary provides the following comprehensive information on approx. 32,000 words:
the word form and spelling the meanings in the context of the works (with an English paraphrase of the specific meanings) selected representative illustrations for each meaning from the works references to special vocabulary and neologisms entries in other German dictionaries (including Grimm and Adelung)
