Full Description
Andri Pol's unmistakable style and ability to capture complex themes with precision has made him one of the most distinguished voices in international contemporary documentary photography. His portraits appear spontaneous yet carefully composed. His reportages offer surprising perspectives on social, cultural, and political realities and identities. With his pictures and photo columns, Pol has contributed to the visual language of major Swiss and German magazines and newspapers.
Andri Pol. Photographs is the first comprehensive survey of his multifaceted oeuvre of nearly four decades. Pol shoots his reportages, portraits, and observations of everyday life around the globe, with recurring geographical focuses in Switzerland, Japan, and China. The volume spans his entire career and includes as well current long-term projects and books he has published. Some 1,600 colour plates are supplemented with a contextual essay by historian and author Valentin Groebner.
Published in conjunction with a major exhibition at the Fotostiftung Schweiz in Winterthur, Andri Pol. Photographs is an invitation to marvel, smile, and discover—visually astute, close to the world, and highly original.
