Full Description

The photographic work of Brigitte Lustenberger finds its inspiration in contemporary photography but also strongly refers to painting, film and television. The depth of her images invites the viewer to reflect on art and life. "These photographs are composed like paintings and they also have the same statements. The flowers and the three-quarter view of the models whose eyes fix the viewer; resemble paintings by Rembrandt or Caravaggio. But not only the composition, but also the guidance of the light is influenced by baroque paintings: The subject emerges distinctly from the dark background. The subtle use of colours and the effects of brightness and darkness, point out the form of the faces" (Ariane Pollet). The work of Brigitte Lustenberger is shown at international exhibitions. She won the Photo Prize of the Kanton Berne in 2002 and 2013 and received the prestigious Landis & Gyr scholarship.
