Full Description
This book examines equity in healthy ageing during the climate crisis. It brings together diverse perspectives, theoretical models, and empirical evidence, with particular attention to emerging issues that connect experiences across the Global North and Global South. The volume foregrounds perspectives that are often underrepresented in discussions of sustainability and healthy ageing, bringing these viewpoints into dialogue to inform future policy development and research.
The book focuses on inequities and the impact of climate change on healthy ageing across a range of contexts and socioeconomic circumstances worldwide. Contributors address topics including health inequalities, menopause, policy, and sustainable ageing, offering new insights into the challenges of promoting healthy ageing in a changing climate.
The volume's 19 chapters are organized into three sections:
Part I: Equity in Healthy Ageing Across Contexts and Groups
Part II: Reframing Healthy Ageing in Response to Climate Change
Part III: Barriers to Healthy Ageing During Climate Change
Healthy Ageing During the Climate Crisis: Highlighting Underrepresented Voices and Issues provides an important resource for researchers, students, lecturers, policymakers, and health and social care professionals and practitioners seeking evidence-based approaches to equitable and sustainable ageing. The book will also be of interest to readers in a range of sectors and fields including public health, health promotion, gerontology, and environmental studies.
