Description

This book addresses the assessment and management of risks related to environmental factors such as pollution, climate change and natural hazards.
Environmental risk analysis sits at the crossroads of environmental science, policy, economics, and human behaviour. It asks how natural hazards affect human systems, who bears losses, and which interventions build resilience.

Marking the 10th Anniversary of the ENVECON conference, the volume comprises 16 chapters that treat risk as systemic and dynamic, shaped by hazards, exposure, and vulnerability.

The topics covered focus on risk assessment through causal econometrics, game theory, time-series, and panel modelling. These approaches target a diverse range of fields, such as sectoral evidence on extreme-weather productivity impacts, environmental taxation, environmental risks, and sustainability reporting.

Valuable for postgraduate students, professionals, and policymakers involved in environmental science, engineering, and public policy, the book offers management tools and policy actions for decision-making under uncertainty and sustainable development.

Preface.- Introduction.- 1.Impact of extreme weather events on total factor productivity and efficiency in the Sri Lankan fisheries sector.- 2.The cascading effects among natural hazards: Interaction maps as tool for risk management.- 3.Analysis of the Environmental Tax in EU. A Study of its Equity through Gini Index and Lorenz Curve.- 4.Dynamic environmental subsidy policies.- 5.Dynamic environmental subsidy policies.-6.Measuring uncertainty, transfer entropy and G-causality In Environmental Economics.-7.Environmental risk footprint on cryptocurrencies and money evolution in inflationary crises.- 8.A time series analysis comparing the main air pollutants of Athens and Salonica in Greece.- 9.Identifying impacts and causalities regarding air quality, environment, and tourism in the eurozone economic space: a panel data analysis.- 10.Global Bioeconomy: History, Visions and Limitations.- 11.Exploring the Impact of Corporate Social Responsibility on Employee Mental Health, Resilience, and Job Satisfaction.- 12.A policy review for small-medium enterprises on overcoming environmental risks: The role of environmental management systems under the scope of environmental social and corporate governance.- 13.A note on climate change accounting and reporting in Greece: Insights from the adoption of the TCFD recommendations among large-caps.- 14.Ecologically Optimal Quantities Extraction. Conflicting cases.- 15.Challenges in Achieving Inclusive Development in the South Asia.- 16.Information and Communication Technology Adoption and Climate Risk Perception: Evidence from Smallholder Farmers in Rural Vietnam.
