Dr. João Manuel R. S. Tavares graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidade do Porto, Portugal, in 1992. He obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the same university in 1995 and 2001, respectively, and completed his Habilitation in Mechanical Engineering in 2015. He is a senior researcher at the Instituto de Ciência e Inovação em Engenharia Mecânica e Engenharia Industrial (INEGI) and a Full Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEMec) of the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (FEUP). He has served as Head of DEMec since June 2023.
Prof. Bal Virdee is Director of the Centre for Communications Technology research group at London Metropolitan University, London, UK. His research is in microwave wireless communications encompassing 5G Mobile phones to satellite technology. Professor Bal Virdee graduated with a BSc (Eng) Honours in Communication Engineering from Leeds University. He obtained his PhD from the University of London. He has worked as an academic both at Open University and Leeds University. Prior to his academic roles, he served as a research and development electronic engineer in the Future Products Department at Teledyne Defence and Space in West Yorkshire, and at PYE TVT, now the broadcast center for Phillips, in Cambridge. Throughout his career, he has shouldered various responsibilities at the University, including roles such as Health and Safety Officer, Postgraduate Tutor, Examination Officer, Admissions Tutor, Short Course Organizer, and Course Leader for MSc/MEng Satellite Communications, BSc Communications Systems, and BSc Electronics. Before assuming the position of professor in 2012, he held the role of Academic Leader.
Dr. Tanweer (Senior Member, IEEE) is currently working as an Associate Professor with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, Karnataka, India. He is an active researcher in the field of microstrip, MIMO, DRA, UWB, millimetre wave and Tera-hertz antennas, wireless communication, and microwave imaging. He has been listed in top 2% scientists across the world for the year 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 by the prestigious list published by Stanford University, USA, indexed by Scopus. He is currently heading Advanced Antenna and Microwave Research Lab at MIT, Manipal. The lab has the capability to characterize antenna and microwave passive devices up to 40 GHz and is one of its kind in the region.
Dr. M. Tanveer is Professor and Ramanujan Fellow at the Department of Mathematics of the Indian Institute of Technology Indore. Prior to that, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Rolls-Royce@NTU Corporate Lab of the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. During 2012 to 2015, he was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the LNM Institute of Information Technology (LNMIIT), Jaipur. He received the PhD degree in Computer Science from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. Prior to that, he received the M.Phil degree in Mathematics from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India. His research interests include support vector machines, optimization, machine learning, deep learning, applications to Alzheimer's disease and dementias. He has published over 165 refereed journal papers of international repute.
