Description
This book examines the education-mobility nexus at an individual and EU policy level. With particular reference to second generations and highly-qualified 'knowledgable' movers, the authors present empirical research on young and adult migrants in Italy, and Italian professionals in European and non-European destinations. This original, data-driven book contributes to wider debates on education policy, the sociology of education and migration studies.
Chapter 1. Setting the scene: Hunting for skills in an aging European society.- Chapter 2. International mobilities in the EU from the perspective of a Mediterranean country.- Chapter 3. Places of educational opportunity: Teachers, educators and migrant families in the mirror.- Chapter 4. (Adult) Players in the Italian mobility scenario.- Chapter 5. Policies, practices and players: to look forward.
