This text addresses sexual and reproductive health concerns, such as menstrual management and contraception, from a multidisciplinary group including experts in pediatrics, adolescent medicine as well as pediatric and adolescent gynecology. It aims to help providers understand the unique reproductive health needs for adolescents and young adults with chronic illness, while also describing an overall framework for management of reproductive health concerns in medically complex patients. The textbook is divided into two main sections. The first section includes six chapters which discuss high level general topics pertaining to sexual and reproductive health. The second section devotes thirteen chapters to specific medical conditions, each written by an expert in either adolescent medicine, pediatric and adolescent gynecology or family planning. Examples of topics covered in this second section include eating disorders, cystic fibrosis, gender dysphoria, and oncology/fertility preservation.
