He teaches courses in policing, crime prevention, and criminal justice ethics and accountability. He has won numerous awards for teaching and research. His interests include crime and corruption prevention, police and security officer safety, security industry regulation, and gender equity in policing. Louise Porter is an Associate Professor and the Deputy Head of School (Research) in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Griffith University in Australia. She is also the Deputy Director of the Griffith Criminology Institute. Louise's research applies social psychological and criminological perspectives to behavior in policing and offending contexts. Her current research on policing focuses on misconduct and police use of force. She has worked with law enforcement agencies both in Australia and overseas on a range of projects for more than a decade, holding previous academic appointments at the University of Liverpool and University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom, and Senior Research Fellow within the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Policing and Security at Griffith University. She is a member of the editorial boards of Policing and Society and International Journal of Law, Crime & Justice. Louise has also co-authored the book Police Integrity Management in Australia: Global lessons for combating police misconduct (2012, Taylor & Francis, with Tim Prenzler).
