Its author defended the idea of a living Latin, not a fossilized one, which is still relevant today. He based his dialogues on everyday situations, but also on various literary texts, intended to illustrate the written use of Latin from Antiquity to the present day: Cicero and Pliny the Younger rubbed shoulders with Gregory of Tours, Francis Bacon and even Saint-Exupéry, through the Latin translation of The Little Prince.
