Grâce à quelques interprètes reconnus, en particulier Catherine Sauvage, ses chansons ont néanmoins touché un public beaucoup plus large.<br /> Cette anthologie retrace l'ascension de Léo Ferré au cours des années 50 et l'affirmation d'un style refusant toute concession : un parcours qui l'a finalement mené sur les plus grandes scènes de music-hall.<br /> A poet and a musician in equal parts, Léo Ferré was too much of an inspired rebel to fit into the mould demanded of budding post-war songwriters in Paris. For many long years, only the nightclubs on the Left Bank opened their doors to this Monaco citizen with none of the looks of the others who appeared there. But thanks to a few singers of renown, and Catherine Sauvage in particular, the songs of Ferré would touch a much vaster audience. <br /> This anthology retraces Ferré's ascent from the Fifties to the early Sixties. His style made no concessions, yet he performed on the stages of the greatest music halls, including Bobino, the Olympia and the Alhambra.
