Au tout début du XXe siècle, les frères Lumière mettent au point le premier procédé de photographie en couleurs. De la révolution des autochromes, il reste une moisson de plaques révélant un monde que nous avons davantage l'habitude de voir en noir et blanc. Or les couleurs sont partout dans le Paris 1900, colonisant les façades et animant les rues. Un siècle plus tard, la réalité semble prendre le pas sur la fiction pour nous transporter dans un décor onirique – comme au cinéma !
The First Colors of Paris
At the very beginning of the 20th century, the Lumière brothers put the final touch on the first photography process featuring colors. From the revolution of autochromes, there remains a harvest of plaques revealing a world that we are more used to seeing in black and white. Yet colors are everywhere in the Paris of 1900, colonizing facades and animating streets. One century later, reality seems to have taken precedence on fiction and transports us in a dream-like decor–;just like at the cinema!
