"THE KIDS' GUIDE TO THE MIGHTY REDS' DOUBLE"
Liverpool's Double is the first in a planned series of official club books specifically designed to teach young fans (and would-be fans) about pivotal moments in the Kop's history.
Written in an engaging, fast-paced, dramatic and age-appropriate fashion, this first book centres on one of the most remarkable eras of all: Liverpool's rollercoaster first season with player/manager Kenny Dalglish.
It was 1985/86 - a time when Walkmans were on everyone's Christmas list and the only phone in the house was attached to the wall. Legendary player Dalglish had also taken on managerial duties but faced an uphill battle. Many of the players were on their last season and he needed new blood - fast.
Fans and critics both thought the club was heading for disaster....but then, like in any good underdog story, they turned things around. Through grit, skill and good old-fashioned teamwork the Reds pulled off the near impossible: winning both the League and the FA Cup, a feat which had only previously been done four times in the history of English football.
Even better, derby rivals Everton - featuring a young Gary Lineker - came runners-up in both, leaving Liverpudlians in no doubt about which of their teams was best on the pitch.
As the first book in Liverpool FC's innovative and exciting Anfield Legends series, it's hoped this dramatic story will not only capture the hearts of Gen Alpha, but ensure that they too feel part of the club.
Released to coincide with the 40th anniversary year of Liverpool's Double, it will also be the perfect gift for football-loving parents to buy their children, and isbound to appear in many a Christmas stocking this year.
