Full Description
Under Vixens Mere is a gripping crime novel set on a rural marina in the English countryside. A floating house boat community and their passengers reside on these murky waters, close as can be. When Harry Jones takes his life one chilly evening, a long-buried secret is found amongst the silt where he laid himself to rest.
As the closely-knit neighbours finds themselves in disarray, they prove that strength comes with sticking together. But how long will the hidden stories of these waters be concealed? The novel follows six houseboats, each with their own character and charm:
Bombardier: Owned by Karen and Harry Jones, a married couple who travel the waterways of England with the occasional visit to Vixens Mere. PDST-stricken Harry has never been the same since his time in deployment, while Karen went from young bride to caretaker.
Summer Walker: Brodie Thomson, the Scottish Bachelor, hasn't been to Vixens Mere in years. His sudden appearance is met with warm welcomes and a guilty conscience.
Crystal Lady: Home to Milly, Big Ed, and Moses. Millie and Ed, rusty hippies in their golden years, are the adoptive parents of Moses - and the entire marina at that.
Morning Star: The newest addition to Vixens Mere, Lori, found Vixens Mere at rock bottom. Post-breakup, she's looking for a fresh start: new home, new career, new health regimen, and while she's at it... a new crush on the landlord's daughter.
Home Sweet Home: Drug dealer Jed recently lost his father to cancer, inheriting the boat that they lived on together. Not long after, the vacancy is filled by Anna, a recovering addict. Companionship isn't the only thing she brings, though... a nasty ex-boyfriend with a vendetta is closely following her every move.
Saddleback: Pigman Pete, saved from a life of misery by Big Ed and Milly, works at the local pig farm & butchers. He'd do anything for Ed and Milly, and one late night in a biblical downpour he gets the chance to prove it.
Vixens Mere is brought to life by the stories of its inhabitants. Without forbidden love, murky old histories, and of course, what lies beneath, there would be no story to tell and it would glitter innocently in the warm sunshine.
