Full Description
Spid hopes to make lots of money having been gifted some magic seeds by his friend Marvin the mole. However, while he toils night and day to nurture the seeds, nothing goes to plan. An old man's forecast also rings in Spid's ears, and in the end, he learns a valuable lesson.
This fourteenth Spid the Spider adventure
shares some characteristics with a famous and enduring English fairy tale. What
sets this adventure apart is its unique blend of entertainment combined with a
moral lesson for children aged 4-10 years. In the story, Spid stumbles on what
he thinks is a quick way to make money, however, he learns that greed never
does anyone any good, and that he should value his lot. Another highlight is its interactivity. The story
features two songs. 'Money Doesn't Grow on Trees' and 'Seed Greed'. By scanning QR codes, readers can see
and hear animated music videos of the songs:
'Money Doesn't Grow on Trees' combines a
rock and roll and fast-paced jazz piano vibe. It's a fun singalong that will
transport you back to the nineteen sixties.
'Seed Greed' is a reflective and thoughtful song.
As it strums along it sends a strong message: "I'm afraid you are suffering
from greed, trying to make money from seeds".
Spid is a hard-working, cool, and funny
spider, who makes mistakes, but learns from them. As well as encouraging children to read and love books,
Spid's adventures also teach valuable life lessons, including
determination and what psychologists call a 'growth mindset' (desire to
better oneself and succeed), the importance of friendship, and
sustainability. For more parent and teacher resources to accompany
