Who Cares?, the fourth in the Inquiries into Contemporary Sculpture series, examines issues of reception and care in contemporary sculpture. The book is a provocation into the complex conditions of caring in contemporary art and sculpture.Perhaps first directed to the viewer of an artwork, Who Cares? asks about audience engagement as well as the critical reception of sculpture. What is particular to sculpture and its viewers? And what is particular to sculpture and criticism? Further, the question leading this volume interrogates artisticcommitment to sculpture as a discipline as well the perimeters of institutional departments, beginning with disciplinary definitions and extending to the realms of exhibition practices and conservation concerns.Who Cares? points to the range of responsibilities that objects engender, collating perspectives about why we care, why we don't care, who should care, and who shouldn't care.
