Full Description
This book offers a comprehensive account of the life and work of the American artist Ad Reinhardt (1913-1967). Michael Corris re-examines Reinhardt's wide-ranging artistic and critical output, especially in the light of American and European abstract art and popular forms of graphic art such as illustrations and cartoons, and the work of younger artists associated with successive avant-gardes such as Minimal and Conceptual art. Corris also looks at the artist's political beliefs in relation to the American Communist movement and other political organizations on the left.
