Full Description

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is a surface-sensitive analytical method that enhances Raman scattering by molecules adsorbed on rough metal surfaces or by nanostructures. Tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (TERS) is a special form of SERS in which the enhancement of Raman scattering occurs only at the point of a near atomically sharp pin, typically coated with gold or silver. Both of these techniques can be used to study the properties of catalysts as well as other functional materials, and provides detailed molecular information at the nanoscale. Surface- and Tip-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy in Catalysis provides a succinct overview of methods in Plasmon-Enhanced Spectroscopy and how they can be applied to Catalysis research. Beginning with a look at the theory behind the techniques the book then goes into a practical and hands-on description of the various methods which will be invaluable for anyone interested in applying the technique to their own work.
