Full Description
Living the ex-pat dream in Bel Air, Guy has apparently got it all - wow factor condo, weekend beach flat, uber cool art, classic cars and fashion-stylist girlfriend. But after years of hanger on hedonism and approaching 40, the reality of his mediocrity causes his core beliefs to unravel, triggering a midlife moral menopause and the subsequent decision to leave it all behind and embark on a coast-to-coast motorcycle ride of self-discovery.
However, on only day three of his journey he is knocked off his motorcycle by a car driven by a young native Alaskan girl who apparently is on the run from the local Police. She offers to look after him and transport him onward, but it becomes obvious that there is more to her story than her innocent Inuit athleticism suggests. Together, they evade the Police Bonnie-and-Clyde style transferring to a motorcycle when the Cops get too close for comfort. By now they have bonded to the point of falling in love, but when Guy turns on the TV alone and is suddenly confronted by the shocking newsreel revealing the story of his new love's slain parents and her likely involvement, their future together suddenly becomes much more tenuous.
'Maybe Baby' is the story of the unlikely relationship when people from seemingly incompatible societal orbits unexpectedly collide. As such it is Guy's consequent dilemma; that is whether he is capable of falling, and most importantly staying in love with someone so natural, youthful, yet at times feral, while casting off his original class-compatible, age-appropriate partner. A thriller on every level - moral, psychological and physical.
