Full Description
While
being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March of 2001, Aerosmith
had a bona fide US hit single with 'Jaded', an infectious slice of pop rock. Few
bands can boast a brand-new hit three decades into their career, yet by 2001,
Aerosmith was riding higher than they had ever been.
Led by frontman Steven Tyler and guitarist
Joe Perry, the quintet spent the 70s releasing classic hard-rock albums such as
Rocks and Toys
in the Attic, gradually becoming
one of the most popular bands in America. The early 1980s saw a dip in fortunes
while they released some of the most underrated music of their career. However,
the band exploded back onto the scene with
Permanent Vacation in 1987 and spent the next decade or so releasing
hit after hit, becoming not only American superstars but also one of the
biggest bands in the world.
Inspired
by bands like The Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith became master arbiters
of 'blooze rock', inspiring legions of bands in their wake. This is the story
of every officially released song, interwoven with biographical information, that
traces the key chapters in their career, demonstrating that Aerosmith are one
of the most important American rock bands in history.
