Full Description
Everyone is shocked when Mathew Wraighton flunks his Eleven-plus resit examination. Everyone except Mathew, who knows exactly why he flunked it: Patricia Newman from 5A. However, when Patricia shows no signs of leaving her 18-year-old boyfriend, Mathew decides to move his affections over to Mary Monks. And so begins a coming of age for Mathew, learning about the delights and mysteries of the 'vabia' and 'lagina' and those elusive oft-talked-about non-school-related periods.
