Full Description
Turning Decorative Bowls presents 16 inspiring woodturning projects incorporating innovative decorative techniques and created by one of the UK's leading turners.
Compiled from the archives of Woodturning magazine and first commissioned as challenges from the late Editor, Mark Baker, Richard Findley is tasked with researching and attempting to master new and innovative techniques. The projects increase in complexity from simple bowl turning to incorporating decorative methods such as airbrushing, resin and brass wire inlays and pewter rims. Richard shares how he tackled each challenge from start to finish, including the struggles as well as the successes. His stories will inspire novice and experienced turners alike.
Some of the bowls are turned from constructed pieces such as one made from boards, open segmented turning and a staved bowl. Others showcase techniques such as thread chasing and turning a bowl with handles, as well the fun and unusual shapes of a Christmas star and a jigsaw of turned pieces.
