Full Description
On 12th June 2018, Granny Bunty, would have reached her
100th birthday. She missed it by five months, but we celebrated the occasion
with a happy weekend in the Yorkshire Dales with many toasts and reminiscences.
The family took with them two boxes of her writings, discovered in her flat in Tunbridge
Wells, and started to delve. There were nearly 300 articles, all written for a
regular writing class that she attended over a period of over 20 years.
The essays, reflections, poems and children's stories
provide a fascinating insight into her family background, childhood memories,
wartime experiences, business life, and travel. There are many joyful tales,
but she also writes of some heartfelt tragedies and how she surmounted them.
The fiction section presents a wide variety of moving, humorous, and thought provoking
short stories from her creative imagination. The collection is absorbing, and
Granny B's voice can be heard in each contribution.
Illustrated by over 200 photographs from GB's albums and
from those of the family, the book reveals much about a 100-year lifetime and
reveals a talent for storytelling by a wonderful, loving and caring mother, grandmother,
aunt and friend. She was always positive thinking in her outlook and her often
used expression 'all will be well, darling' will be familiar to all who knew
her. It was not difficult to choose a title for this remarkable collection.
