Full Description
Math for Industrial Professionals is designed to help students solidify a mathematics foundation as they face their industrial professional program. The goal of the text is to assist the student in gaining confidence in the use of basic mathematic and algebraic principles and properties and their application in solving algebraic equations and formulas.
The text initially provides instruction and practice with fractions, decimals, application with mathematical operations, and power and root laws. This is followed by instruction and practice on creating and simplifying algebraic expressions, solving algebraic equations, using ratios and proportions, and evaluating and solving formulas.
The text then covers Customary and Metric Measurement systems, where the student will learn to identify different measurements dimensions and units, to convert units of measurement within or between measuring systems, and to problem solve using measurements.
The text then presents both two-dimensional and three-dimensional geometry. Students will learn the properties of common plane and solid geometric shapes they should encounter in the industrial profession. There are plenty of practice problems on using measurement and geometric shapes, including density of matter. And, there is a section on basic Trigonometry, where the student will learn and practice the use of Trigonometry function ratios to find sides and angles of triangles.
The student will also be trained in the use of the scientific calculator with complex formulas.
