It not only compiles Jonathan Green's earlier six volumes on this topic published over the past two decades, but it updates and adds to the list of entries. It appears in a large format, following the precedent established by the Daniels' Orchestral Music volume.
Surveying choral-orchestral repertoire from 1600 to the present, this omnibus edition of Green's earlier works includes and enlarges on the original information collected, including a brief biographical sketch of each composer, and for each work the approximate duration, text sources, performing forces, currently available editions, locations of manuscript materials, notes, performance issues, evaluation of solo roles, and evaluation of difficulty. It also includes an updated and upgraded discography, bibliography, and list of publishing sources (with contact information).
