Module 4 discusses the concept of active learning and its importance in adult learning and explains important characteristics of the excellent learning activity. Ideas for individual activities, group activities, and experiential activities are provided. Additionally, the learning portfolio is presented as a way to document learning gained from activities. The sections included in this module are as follows: section 1: active learning theory; section 2: learning through individual activities; section 3: learning through in-class group activities; section 4: learning through experience; and section 5: the learning portfolio.
