The emergence and rise of the Pirate Parties across Europe remains an under-studied phenomenon, despite it being one of the rare new transnational movements that succeeded in establishing itself in several countries, with Pirate Parties registered in a total of 62 countries.This book offers a detailed analysis of the emergence and rise of Pirate politics across Europe, from 2005 to 2015. Based on a thorough content analysis of official Pirate Parties documents across Europe and interviews with key members of this movement, the book offers a balanced mix between theoretical and practical chapters. It shows how throughout the early 2010s, Pirate Parties have played key roles in transnational anti-austerity and anti-Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) movements.
