Full Description
The evolution of capitalist economies through waves of liberalization of markets over the last five decades led to structural changes and greater systemic risks.
This book presents economic research into the roots and remedies of these risks, particularly exploring the key issues of financial stability and the financing of economic activities on the one hand, and the necessary economic and ecological transition to a more sustainable world, on the other. Against a backdrop of these growing global risks - be they economic and financial, ecological or geopolitical - the continuity of financing for innovative activities, transition operations, or investments in regions or countries weakened by conflict is essential to enable economies to generate sustainable wealth to improve living conditions for citizens. Therefore, the contributors to the book explore issues of financial stability in relation to financial regulation, macroprudential policies, the use of digital currencies by central banks, mechanisms for hedging markets against risk and the perception of risk by market players, bank resolution mechanisms and the role of the insurance sector in a financialized economy. In parallel with this, the book also explores the different ways in which green transition processes can be financed. The role of industrial and fiscal policies in stabilizing markets and encouraging economic activities that would enable sustainable and stable economic development and support the ecological transition in the long term is also highlighted.
The book will be of great interested to readers of green economy and transition, money, finance and banking, as well as economic and public policy.
