Originally published between 1957 and 1988 the volumes in this collection were published at the time when the nursing profession was reviewing its education system and they give a basic grounding in community medicine and epidemiology for district, community psychiatric and other nurses and health visitors; highlight the role of professional associations in nursing research development; consider topics and concepts that give the specialism of Occupational Nursing its unique character; focus on the philosophy of individualised patient care; examine the beginnings of the nursing profession in its present form; explain the relevance of sociology to contemporary nursing; locate interpersonal skills in nursing in both social psychological and nursing contexts and present an analytical explanation of curriculum design, development and evaluation as applied to nursing.
