The Ordinary Society for Kindness to All Animals in the Art World is a pioneering declaration that urges artists, institutions, curators, critics, collectors, and audiences to reimagine their relationships with human and non-human beings who have long existed in the margins of creative culture.
Gathering and forming an ever growing new collective of artists, writers, ethicists, and cultural workers, The Ordinary Society for Kindness to All Animals in the Art World seeks to elevate compassion as an active principle—not an afterthought. The Society's newly published Manifesto outlines a vision for an art world where animals are treated not merely as materials, motifs, or metaphors, but as living individuals with intrinsic worth, setting a New Standard for Ethical Creativity.
The Manifesto challenges long-standing norms within artistic production and exhibition practice. It encourages creators to critically re-examine how animals (humans and non-humans) appear—physically, symbolically, or structurally—in art spaces.
